Skokie Living Room

Year

2025

This is my own living room—and admittedly, it’s still a work in progress. But it’s also proof that even if you’re not in your forever home, you can still create a space that feels beautiful and deeply personal. My furniture is a thoughtful mix of new finds, vintage treasures, and a few pieces I’ve designed myself. The artwork reflects my story: pieces I’ve created, collected on travels, or discovered at garage sales, estate sales, and tucked-away thrift shops.

I believe in surrounding yourself with pieces that speak to you—objects with character, memory, and meaning. My home embraces a minimal, earthy palette with natural tones that range from warm whites to deep rusts and rich shades of brown, creating a calm, grounded backdrop for daily life.

This chair is a vintage find I picked up during a trip to Iowa—one of those rare pieces that immediately felt special. To give it new life, I had it reupholstered in a simple striped fabric that brings a quiet elegance and modern clarity to its classic shape.

Behind the chair hangs a piece of artwork with contrasting scale and rhythm. The boldness and the larger, more dynamic stripe pattern play beautifully against the chair’s subtler lines, creating an unexpected yet balanced visual tension.

The large pottery vessel beside the chair was sourced through an importer and now holds a white jasmine plant—my partner’s favorite flower. I love the way the jasmine has vined out organically over time, adding softness and movement to the composition. When it blooms, the entire space fills with the scent of jasmine—an atmosphere that’s both grounding and transportive.

I like to create little moments that interest the eye.  These candleholders reflect the light in interesting ways while the tapestry behind the sofa echos the colors perfectly.

Your home should reflect you, be a space that grounds you, and elevates you as a person, as who you are and who you want to be.
