Scandi-Calm Primary Suite

Year

2024

Designing this space was such a rewarding experience—the clients and I shared a clear vision from the start, which made the collaboration feel seamless. One of my favorite parts of the transformation is how we fit both a freestanding tub and a double shower without sacrificing the open, airy feel. It’s always exciting to see a space come together in a way that feels both beautiful and effortless.

Details matter. This bathroom is full of crisp, clean lines, so adding a few soft curves—like the solid surface tub and the rounded mirror —helps bring balance and refinement. The teak stool by the tub adds a natural, grounded touch, reinforcing the organic tone of the space.

One detail I’m especially happy with is the floor tile: its deep, muddy concrete look adds just the right amount of contrast and warmth, especially with the added comfort of radiant heat underfoot. Because how a space feels is just as important as how it looks. Also - those towels - they are warm too.

It’s funny how design works sometimes—keeping this space feeling open, modern, and organic actually meant choosing framed glass panels over frameless. The clean lines of the frames add structure without feeling heavy, and I especially love how the shower plumbing complements them so seamlessly.

It was very important for us that the bedroom and the bathroom elements flow together beautifully.

The materials in this bedroom define the comfortable luxury we were going for.  A beautiful mix of organic cottons and linens.

These wall sconces from "in common with" were the perfect finishing touch for this primary suite.
